Moving contact lines in the Cahn-Hilliard theory

چکیده
-We establish the equations of motion of an isothermal viscous Cahn-Hilliard fluid and we investigate the dynamics of fluids having moving contact lines under this theory. The force singularity arising in the classical model of capillarity is no longer present. This removal is due to a mass transfer across the interface combined with a finite thickness of the interface. A numerical simulation of the flow in the immediate vicinity of the contact line shows the connection between the static contact angle, the dynamic angle and points out the influence of the velocity. On imposing dynamic contact-angle boundary conditions for wall-bounded liquid–gas flows
We present an efficient scheme within the phase field framework for imposing dynamic contact angle boundary conditions for wall-bounded flows of two immiscible incompressible fluids with large density ratios. First, we develop an algorithm for imposing the dynamic contact angle boundary conditions to the Cahn–Hilliard equation. Our algorithm consists of two components: (i) we ignore the boundar...
متن کاملA Diffuse Interface Model for Electrowetting with Moving Contact Lines
We introduce a diffuse interface model for the phenomenon of electrowetting on dielectric and present an analysis of the arising system of equations. Moreover, we study discretization techniques for the problem. The model takes into account different material parameters on each phase and incorporates the most important physical processes, such as incompressibility, electrostatics and dynamic co...
متن کاملThe existence of global attractor for a Cahn-Hilliard/Allen-Cahn equation
In this paper, we consider a Cahn-Hillard/Allen-Cahn equation. By using the semigroup and the classical existence theorem of global attractors, we give the existence of the global attractor in H^k(0
متن کاملA time-stepping scheme involving constant coefficient matrices for phase-field simulations of two-phase incompressible flows with large density ratios
We present an efficient time-stepping scheme for simulations of the coupled Navier– Stokes Cahn–Hilliard equations for the phase field approach. The scheme has several attractive characteristics: (i) it is suitable for large density ratios, and numerical experiments with density ratios up to 1000 have been presented; (ii) it involves only constant (time-independent) coefficient matrices for all...
